Active plasma wound dressing helps heal wounds

An invention for better wound healing - Dr. Carsten Mahrenholz

COLDPLASMATECH develops the first active wound dressing (plasma patch) for the treatment of chronic wounds using cold, physical plasma.

Healing instead of care

Our goal: sustainable wound closure instead of just treating wounds.

Quick and painless

First results possible after only a few days of treatment.

Most advanced technology

Based on more than 6 years of application-oriented research

Clinically confirmed & easy to use

Treatment with cold plasma clinically confirmed. Application of the CPT®patch simple.

We revolutionize wound treatment!

Enabling those affected to gain a new lease on life

Every year, more than 3 million people in Germany suffer from extensive, often chronic wounds such as diabetic foot syndrome, decubitus ulcers, fungal infections and superinfections, e.g. from severe burns. The quality of life of patients is severely limited, as the healing process of these wounds is lengthy, painful and expensive.

Wound infections - especially with multi-resistant germs - are one of the most common complications for wound healing, in acute (burn) wounds as well as during surgery.

Driven by our passion for giving sufferers a new lease on life, we invented and patented a new, effective way of treating wounds. Our specialists developed CPT®patch, an active wound dressing that effectively treats wounds.

We are the first company in the world to use the patented Active Glow® technology, which enables a breakthrough application that even fights multidrug resistance - painlessly, over large areas, quickly and safely.

The problem chronic and poorly healing wounds

At what point is a wound chronic?

This question arises both for those affected and for their caregiving relatives when the healing of a wound does not really want to progress.

Wounds are chronic if they cannot be brought to closure within 8 weeks. They are often very stressful for those affected and their relatives, as they cause pain, restrict mobility but can also lead to odor nuisance.

People with chronic wounds often have an underlying condition that causes wounds to develop even from light pressure and then fail to heal. Factors that play an important role are:
circulatory disorder, venous weakness, diabetes, weak immune system, accidental injury with tissue destruction and mechanical pressure.

In traditional wound treatment, these wounds are debrided and then treated with classic wound dressings. In this guideline-compliant care, we now offer the possibility of supplementing wound healing and closure with cold plasma therapy.

It is no longer a matter of simply "treating a wound", but of wound healing and wound closure.

Therapy with the CPT®patch has the advantage that wounds can be treated with cold plasma regardless of their size and depth. Not only is wound healing consistently stimulated, but disturbing germs, including multiresistant germs, are killed at the same time. Wound healing is actively stimulated and is free of interfering factors.

The results of clinical studies and also the successful treatment of patients whose wounds could often only be treated but not closed for years show that even critical wounds can be healed in the long term with this treatment.

Plasma - the fourth state of matter

What is cold plasma?

If additional energy is added to a gas, it enters the "fourth" state of aggregation - after solid, liquid and gaseous comes plasma. The surface of the sun, for example, consists of this very hot matter. What is new is the technology for generating cold, gaseous plasma that is also compatible with the skin. Only this made the application on living cells possible.

What are the benefits of cold plasma used for therapy?

Cold plasma has very good and sustainable properties for chronic wounds, which the Coldplasmatech team has adopted in the development of its products:

Acts as an antimicrobial and kills a wide range of even multi-resistant bacteria and fungi
Stimulates the formation of new vessels and improves blood circulation
Strongly promotes wound healing
Strong anti-inflammatory

The treatment can be wonderfully integrated into the guideline-based treatment of chronic wounds and greatly enhances the success of treatment. The treatment is also completely painless for the patient and has no known side effects. For the first time, it is possible to close chronic wounds after only 10 treatments (with 2-3 applications per week).

Unique technology. Made in Germany.

Innovation in wound healing.

How does the application work?

The patented "Active Glow® Technology".

The "Active Glow" technology is effective, effective
and safe.

It generates a physical plasma that is no hotter than body temperature. Thus, it is very suitable for germ elimination from microbially contaminated skin and wounds.

The simultaneous deep stimulation of the skin or wound surface increases microcirculation.

The wound is better supplied with oxygen and nutrients - and heals faster and better.

Chronic wound healing disorders
Secondary wound healing disorders
Venous ulcerations
Ulcerations with lymphatic congestion
Diabetic foot syndrome
Ulcerations in peripheral arterial occlusive disease
Wound healing disorder after amputation
Treatment of decubitus ulcers / pressure ulcers in stages II and III

The treatment can be wonderfully integrated into the guideline-based treatment of chronic wounds and greatly enhances the success of treatment.

The treatment is also completely painless for the patient and has no known side effects. For the first time, it is possible to close chronic wounds after only 10 treatments (with 2-3 applications per week).

How long does the cold plasma therapy last?

Here one should rather ask - How short is the treatment duration? Because compared to the conventional treatment of wounds, where the patient often does not experience sustainable wound closure after years, the treatment with CPT®patch is very manageable with a duration of 10 treatments and a time window of about 4 to 5 weeks. Depending on the severity of the wound, the treatment is repeated until the desired effect is achieved. As a rule, noticeable and visible success is achieved after 6 to 10 treatments.

  1. The CPT®patch adapts very well to all wounds and can be modeled.
  2. The treatment is completely depth-independent and is approved with class IIb for secondary wounds.
  3. The wound surrounding skin is not affected and the treatment has no known side effects
  4. The CPT®cube is started by means of the "home button". The treatment now runs fully automatically and with optimized effect and takes approx. 2 minutes.

Therapy with the CPT®patch

How does the therapy work?

Cold plasma therapy using the CPT®patch is a gentle and low-pain method for the patient.
The treatment is carried out by means of the "Active-Glow®" technology" developed and patented by Coldplasmatech.

Coldplasmatech's system consists of a CPT®cube (a fully automatic control device) and a CPT®patch (a special wound dressing). The combination of these two units is, among other things, the basis of the innovative and successful treatment method.

How exactly the treatment proceeds you can see here in the video:

The CPT®patch is connected to the CPT®cube. The patch is then placed on the affected wound and the wound is sealed with it. The advantage compared to other cold plasma applications is that the wound is sealed for the time of treatment and the cold plasma can penetrate to any part of the wound cavity. There is no leakage of cold plasma or omission of affected areas.
The CPT®cube is very user-friendly and can be operated at the touch of a button. It operates fully automatically at the optimum effect level, and the effect mechanisms of the patented "Active Glow® Technology" begin when it is started.
During the approximately 2 minutes of treatment, multi-resistant germs are now killed and the tissue is stimulated for wound healing. Due to the effect-optimized setting, there is no under- or over-steering, but there is always an optimal treatment of the affected areas.
After the short treatment time of 2 minutes, the CPT®patch can be removed and, if necessary, the wound can be dressed individually. The entire treatment is painless for the patient, without side effects and, compared to conventional treatment, very good results can be achieved after only a few treatments. Experience has shown that with a maximum of 10 treatments - i.e. after approx. 3-4 weeks very good results and often wound closure can be achieved.

The CPT®cube as a treatment unit

The plasma transforms the air within the defined volume between the CPT®patch and the wound surface into an energetically active state. This is associated with the generation of alternating electric fields, light in the UV and infrared range, the formation of ions and a slight increase in temperature. The combination of these physical mechanisms of action leads to an antimicrobial/antifungal effect of the physical plasma and to a promotion of wound healing.
