New plasma therapy helps heal wounds

NDR TV Report - New Plasma Therapy Helps Wound Healing

Plasma treatment works on the covered area, but also in small pores and skin depressions. It is rather painless.

From Vorpommern there is a medical innovation that could help many patients, especially those with chronic wounds. The so-called cold plasma patch is a type of plaster through which cold plasma is directed onto and into wounds. It is intended to actively support wounds in healing.

Glow skin kills germs

The patch has a stimulating effect by creating physical plasma in the form of a smoldering skin by placing it on a wound. This destroys all germs and bacteria on wounds. This promotes their healing.

Unique technology worldwide

The technology was developed in Greifswald by a team of researchers led by Managing Director Carsten Mahrenholz, who spun off from the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Research a few years ago and founded the start-up "Coldplasmatech". A few weeks ago, the company received approval for its globally unique technology. It also has health insurance approval. This means that plasma treatment can now also be prescribed by doctors for patients.
